Cousin Brucie to be honored with Broadcasters Pioneer Award
[Posted by Dave Haber on Thursday, 04/10/08 7:04 pm] [Digg This]

Cousin Brucie, a name well-known to any Beatles fan who grew up in the New York area, will be honored by the Broadcasters Foundation of America at the NAB convention with the Pioneer Award on April 16th.

Brucie, who's real name is Bruce Morrow, has been a mainstay of hit radio for over 40 years, and in August 1965, while at the height of his career at radio station 77 WABC, he had the honor of introducing the Beatles at their historic Shea Stadium concert. Morrow joined SIRIUS radio following the June 3, 2005 demise of oldies station WCBS-FM in New York, where he had been one of the city's most popular on-air hosts since 1984.

Cousin Brucie has also been inducted into the Broadcast and Cable Hall of Fame, Radio Hall of Fame, NAB Hall of Fame, NY State Broadcasters Hall of Fame and has an exhibit in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
