2008 NJ Fest for Beatles Fans best Fest ever [Posted by Katie Hickox on Monday, 03/31/08 9:45 am] [Digg This] The 2008 Fest for Beatles had the largest attendance yesterday of any Fest held at the Secausus New Jersey Crown Plaza hotel venue, said Fest attendee Mark Sutherland who has been going every year since 1979. To prevent overcrowding at the Fest, crowd control was implemented by restricting the number of people in the 2nd floor exhibition areas. At times yesterday, overcrowding made it difficult to walk into the hotel lobby. Packed audience at Fest main event Pattie Boyd Harrison's talk was well attended on both days. On Sunday, she sold out of books that Fest participants could purchase to get Pattie's signature, resulting in long lines for attendees who waited hours to get her autograph or get their picture taken with her. Guest stars from the "Across the Universe" movie, Dana Fuchs, T.V. Carpio and Timothy Mitchum, were greeted with packed younger audiences who loved the movie. Elsewhere at the Fest, ongoing open Beatle jam sessions in the hotel lobby were held as usual, attracting many participants singing Beatles songs with many musicians playing. All in all, it was a great celebration of the great legacy of the Beatles.
