It don't come easy if you're in Sweden [Posted by Dave Haber on Thursday, 03/20/08 10:59 am] [Digg This]Actually, it don't come at all. Because of a corporate quarrel between American internet provider Cogent and the Swedish internet provider Telia, Beatles fans in Sweden have been cut off from many sites on the internet since last Friday, March 14, including Ringo Starr's official site, www.ringostarr.com.
According to reports, for about 12 hours after the initial outage, users in Sweden could access the web sites hosted by Cogent by going through other alternate internet paths, including Verizon and AT&T, but these were also cut off by Cogent, now making it impossible for Telia users to access these sites.
Swedish Ringo fans can't get there from here A message from Telia to its users said, "Cogent has partitioned the Internet and disrupted the flow of traffic between Cogent and TeliaSonera customers. While this has a negative impact on some users of the Internet, this effect is the result of Cogent's decision and is unfortunately beyond TeliaSonera's control."
Besides Sweden, users in Denmark and Finland are also affected. In addition, some users in Slovenia also report being unable to access sites because of the problem. There doesn't seem to be any estimate of when this may be resolved.
